Overview
St. John Paul II Pre-kindergarten is designed to create a loving: God centered “Child’s World” in which each child is nurtured with care and respect. We follow the curriculum guide of the Catholic Department of Education. It is our goal at St. John Paul II to develop the whole child…spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, morally and physically. Throughout the year, Pre-K students have exciting opportunities to develop social skills, fine and gross motor skills, reading readiness skills; letter and sound recognition; number recognition, counting, sorting and classifying; eye-hand coordination, auditory, visual and critical thinking skills. Pre-K teachers enthusiastically utilize the child’s natural inquisitive, explorative and creative nature to “learn by doing”. This active approach to learning makes Pre-K exciting and fun. Students will experience these hands on approaches to learning through participating in literature, story time, dramatic play, arts and crafts, music, puppetry, science exploration and field trips. By the end of the school year a Pre-K student will successfully master the majority of the above-mentioned skills and be ready to enter our Kindergarten program.
