Students from Ms. Resweber's 8th grade Computer Science class demonstration were the hit of a STEM-E Talk held at the Texas Medical Center Accelerator on Saturday, March 21. David Bitoun, John Sutton, and Sebastian McNamara demonstrated robots that they had built and programmed. James Palmer, Michael DeVaull, Juan Guio, and Julian Alarcon also assisted in building the robots during the week prior to the demonstration.
Almost 100 students from area schools attended the event and were captivated by both the unique robot designs and by the actions the robots could perform due to the programming by the 8th graders. Parent Mr. Mike Bitoun assisted Ms. Resweber and the team, and Ms. Kirina McNamara was present for moral support. The keynote speaker was Nic Radford, co-founder, Senior Vice-President, and Chief Technology Officer of Houston Megatronics. Other speakers included two college graduate students who have created an app to help combat acne, and a representative from the High School Astronaut program.
