HOUSTON- St. John Paul II Catholic School (StJPII) has received its first million-dollar gift to help establish the school’s Endowment Fund. This gift was made by alumni parents who believe in StJPII’s commitment to keeping tuition affordable. Our donors hope StJPII will serve as a model for other Catholic schools. StJPII believes the primary school years are some of the most important in the religious formation of children.
HOUSTON- St. John Paul II Catholic School (StJPII) partnered with Russo’s Pizzeria Briar Forest and Eldridge location to host its monthly Spirit Night, however, this time with a special guest. On Wednesday, September 25 the school’s Principal, Rebecca Bogard, served as Chef Bogard and made pizza with her students all in the name of school spirit, fostering community within the school’s neighboring area and fundraising at the same time.
Full STREAM Ahead as StJPII has a night of hands on learning with support from local companies HOUSTON –St. John Paul II Catholic School (“StJPII”) is pleased to announce its hosting its first STREAM night in the Bramanti Athletic Center (BAC) on the StJPII campus. The event is free and is open to the public on April 29 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Full STREAM Ahead.”

“Run with the Saints” 5K To Take Place on Saturday, October 27 HOUSTON – St. John Paul II Catholic School (StJPII) will host its 20th Annual Lauren Lockard Memorial “Run with the Saints” (RWTS) benefiting The Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation on Saturday, October 27 at 8:20 a.m. One of the few races to occur in West Harris County, RWTS winds through the tranquil tree-lined streets around StJPII, near Briar Forest and Eldridge.
HOUSTON – St. John Paul II Catholic School (StJPII) will host a Fall Open House for families who are interested in learning more about the school for their incoming Pre-Kindergarten – 8th grade students. Visitors will enjoy campus tours, meeting with the leadership team and navigating through the admissions process. The StJPII Fall Open House is open to the public and will be held on the school’s campus on Tuesday, October 23 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
HOUSTON –The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston (AGH) awards the Sally Landrum Excellence in Teaching award to a worthy employee in the Catholic School System annually. The award is named for former AGH Superintendent and a staunch supporter of Catholic education, Sally Landrum. In celebration of her life and work, the award is presented to a teacher who exemplifies strong Catholic faith, community spirit, and provides rigorous academic instruction. Additionally, a $1,500 monetary award is given to the teacher for his/her designation.
WEST HOUSTON/KATY CATHOLIC SCHOOL’S CLASS OF 2018 MARKS ITS 25TH GRADUATION CEREMONY HOUSTON –St. John Paul II Catholic School (StJPII) honored 70 graduates from the Greater Houston area including Katy, Cypress and Fulshear at the school’s 25th graduation ceremony since opening its doors in West Houston in 1988. Marking the memorable milestone, this year’s graduating class was awarded a record 25 Academic Scholarships to various, prestigious Catholic High Schools – the most any StJPII graduating class has received.

The StJPII Chorale participated in the eighth Annual Houston Symphonic Band & Choir Contest on Tuesday, April 10th. The Chorale, under the direction of Mrs. Kelly Hughes, performed two pieces - "On the Cross Have Mercy" by Patrick Liebergen and "Listen to the Wind" by David Waggoner. The Chorale received Superior I Ratings from the judges for the two selections that they prepared for the Concert portion and a trophy for their Superior performance. The judges commented on their musical interpretation, dynamics and overall presentation. Additionally, John Sutton and Emma Welsch were noted as outstanding soloists. Congratulations to the StJPII Chorale!
HOUSTON – The St. John Paul II Catholic School (StJPII) Advanced Band which is made up of 7th and 8th grade students received the Sweepstakes Award for achieving straight first division ratings, which is the highest rating given in Concert and Sightreading from the judges. StJPII’s Advanced Band, under the direction of award-winning composer Mr. Kenneth Griffin, participated in the eighth annual Houston Symphonic Band Concert & Sightreading contest on Tuesday, April 10th, at Houston Christian High School. The StJPII band has achieved this highest honor every year since the contest’s inception.

Students from Ms. Resweber's 8th grade Computer Science class demonstration were the hit of a STEM-E Talk held at the Texas Medical Center Accelerator on Saturday, March 21. David Bitoun, John Sutton, and Sebastian McNamara demonstrated robots that they had built and programmed. James Palmer, Michael DeVaull, Juan Guio, and Julian Alarcon also assisted in building the robots during the week prior to the demonstration.
Holy Thursday and Early Dismissal Since this Thursday, March 29 is Holy Thursday, we will have Stations of the Cross (no Mass) at 8:30 a.m. in the GSC. We will also have Early Release. We will dismiss PK/K at 12:00 p.m., 1st - 5th grades at 12:15 p.m., and Middle School at 12:30 p.m. There will be no BASP after dismissal. Enjoy your long Easter weekend with your families. School will resume Tuesday, April 3.
