We are delighted that you are considering John Paul II Catholic School and look forward to meeting you and your family.


TOURS

Tours are available by appointment.

We prefer to schedule tours between 9:00 and 11:00 am according to the following schedule:

October, November, December and January:   First Wednesday of the month.

January during Catholic Schools Week (the last week in January):  Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. - 11 AM.

February, March, April and May:  Every Wednesday that school is in session.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

Following are the steps for submitting an application for admission to John Paul II Catholic School:

1. Complete a John Paul II Catholic School Application for Enrollment, one per child.

2. Submit a check for $250.00, non-refundable application/testing fee per child.

3. Turn in copies of the following paperwork:

a. The applicant's official state-issued birth certificate. Please provide a copy for the school to keep in its records; however, admissions director must also see the original document.

b. Copies of the child’s Baptismal Certificate, First Communion and First Reconciliation Certificates (where applicable)

c. Current immunization records (in English)

d. Applicant's current and two previous years' report cards

e. Previous standardized test scores (last two years)

f. Two current teacher recommendations for students applying for 2nd - 8th grade.
One for 1st grade, Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten applicants.

Teacher recommendations for applicants should be completed as follows:      Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade by the homeroom teacher.  
2nd and 3rd grade by the homeroom teacher and a teacher that sees the students 2 or more times a week. 
4th through 8th grade by the Language Arts and Math teachers.  

g. Signed record release forms

 

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

Applicants are considered for acceptance to John Paul II Catholic School using the following criteria:

  • By September 1 of the current year, the child must be four (4) years of age to enroll in pre-kindergarten, five (5) years old to enroll in kindergarten, and six (6) years old to enter first grade.

  • When all other enrollment criteria are equal, Catholic applicants will be accepted over non-Catholic applicants and Christian applicants will be given priority over non-Christian applicants.

  • Passing grades of “C” (78%) or better in all subjects for current and last two years.

  • Scores on John Paul II Catholic School entrance exam of 70% or higher for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade applicants.

  • Second through eighth grade applicants must score 60% or higher on the entrance exam and demonstrate satisfactory writing skills through their responses to certain parts of the exam.

  • Standardized testing for the current year and two previous years must be 60% or higher

  • Behavior and conduct ratings of satisfactory or better as reported on the report cards and in teacher recommendations.

  • If the Admissions Committee is undecided, the applicant may be asked to meet the teachers to develop a portfolio of work.

  • All current Pre-K and Kindergarten students MUST re-test and meet appropriate percentiles of 70% or above to advance to the next grade.        

  • Teacher recommendations for applicants should be completed as follows: Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade - by the homeroom teacher.  2nd and 3rd grade - by the homeroom teacher and a teacher that sees the student two or more times a week. 4th through 8th grade - by the Language Arts and Math teachers.
