The Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs at John Paul II are designed to help children make the social and emotional adjustment to a formal school program. The curriculum provides academic readiness activities throughout the day in a context appropriate to the children's developmental level and interests. In addition, spiritual and religious instruction is an integral part of the daily curriculum for all ages. The Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs offer young John Paul II students the opportunity to develop, in a loving and spiritually nurturing environment, the skills necessary to achieve scholastically.
In the First through Fifth Grades, students are continually challenged to reach their personal academic potential. This is accomplished through a core curriculum including language arts, math, science and social studies. Field trips and hands-on experimentation reinforce classroom learning. Additionally, the students are given social and spiritual guidance through the incorporation of religious studies in the daily curriculum. Music, art, physical education, library and computer literacy are an integral part of each student's educational experience at John Paul II.
Extracurricular activities include participation in spelling and geography bees, oratorical competitions and various academic competitions during the year. After school programs offered to elementary students include scouting programs, chess, gymnastics, choir, drama, science, and participation in various other sports through the West Houston Christian Sports Association.
